The Wisdom of Time
Time - so elusive but ever-present.
Sometimes it flies by at the speed of light, other times barely seeming to move at all. It’s all relative I guess. Of all the many wonders and treasures this life offers us, time is the greatest gift we’re given — so it deserves some consideration and contemplation.
Time has always been a very ever-present awareness in my mind, unrelentingly so.
To be honest, it’s something I’ve struggled with and wanted to make peace with for so long. However, that’s a tall order for someone who deeply values it, and is ever aware of it’s passing.
As challenging as the concept of time can be to understand, one thing is for certain, it offers us a most valuable gift — the gift of Wisdom.
This gift simply cannot be acquired any other way — only through experience can wisdom be obtained — and both are interlocked with time.
Most of us journey through our lives taking many detours and wrong turns. I myself, have been so lost, so many times in my life. I was certain I would never find a way though to a better place — but I did.
All those detours and wrong turns littered with heartache and pain are also lessons that one day become the wisdom we now hold — and it’s all cumulative, building upon itself — resulting in the beautiful Gift of Wisdom.
Nothing in this life is wasted — it all counts, it all serves a purpose.
That purpose is to grow us & make us more beautiful.
The difficulty is that you cannot see it for what it is when you’re going through it and living it — and trying desperately to make sense of it.
Only in hindsight and only through the passage of time can the truth of this gift finally be realized.
The wisdom times holds is most certainly an offering of Grace upon us.
