Maizie - The Goodness that Found Me
Our Story…
Some gifts arrive quietly — not to fix what’s broken, but to sit with you in the breaking and remind you that love still exists.
Sweet Maizie came into my life during the darkest season I have ever known. In the span of just a few months, I lost my daughter, and then I lost my sweet Sophie — my constant companion of eleven years. I was facing an unbearable depth of grief, largely alone, simply trying to survive each day as it came.
enter Sweet Maizie — my saving grace.
She was living in a shelter about an hour from my home. She was around eighteen months old when we found each other in 2021. From the very first moment, there was no question we belonged to each other. I sat down in a chair at the rescue, she ran straight toward me and leapt into my arms — as if she already knew. I love this photo of us from that day - her curled up beside me, looking up with eyes that seemed to say, I found you - scruffy never looked so sweet!
In those early days, Maizie gave me something I desperately needed: a reason to keep going.
She gave me routine when everything felt untethered, purpose when my world had been shattered, and comfort in simply holding her and having her near. But most of all, she gave me love — unconditional, unwavering, and pure.
She is my loyal devoted protector, my constant companion — always beside me. She reminds me to notice what’s right in front of me, and I savor every moment we get together — Maizie is simply hope and goodness and love, all wrapped up in a tiny seven-pound body.
You’ll see her woven throughout this space, because she is now part of every chapter of my life. She is a living reminder that even after immense loss, love can find us again — sometimes in the most unexpected forms.
Maizie is one of the many reasons I still believe in the goodness of life — especially when it arrives quietly, on four tiny paws.
Life With Maizie
Life with Maizie is made up of the sweetest moments: quiet mornings, familiar routines, and loyal companionship that asks nothing and gives everything.
She keeps me living in the now — in the simple goodness of watching her play, or the way she chases a patch of sunlight throughout the house. The comfort of coming home to her and having her beside me makes life feels steadier, softer, and sweeter.
Watching her excitement over the simplest things like her afternoon treat and especially going outside to find more sunshine, is the sweetest thing —
witnessing her joy is a testament to noticing beauty in the ordinary.
Maizie loves her home, she loves her routines, and she loves me, with a devotion that still humbles me every day. She is full of life, incredibly smart, deeply loyal, and fiercely protective of me and the life we share.
Together, we move through life gently — thankful for today and hopeful for tomorrow, while choosing presence over hurry.
